They are deeper flexing by nature than graphite (although that depends on the taper you can certainly make fast action glass rods) and tend to be very smooth casting as the whole blank tends to flex. In the single hand world they are excellent at short range and on small streams because they can load with very little line out, and tend to cast better at sub 30' than graphite rods making them great small stream rods. Lastly when the right finish is applied fiberglass rods get a very sweet translucent color that can be quite beautiful. They are also usually more durable than graphite with thicker walls, Glass rods can really take a beating and are used popular in the big game offshore rod game, in AK they are the only material used for Salmon Shark rods.
Basically, some of the same reason anglers love bamboo but at a much cheaper price.

I’m almost done building a CTS 10’6” 4wt glass two hand blank. I’ll post a review and photos in a separate thread in the next few weeks.

I don’t have experience with the Echo glass rods, but my first impression of the CTS blank is that it feels a bit more powerful than I expected, especially in the butt section, but I think it’ll mellow out with a pretty deep flex on the water. I’m planning to start with a 330 grain SA spey lite Skagit. More to come…

One thing about these rods that, although owners know most seem unaware, is their unique fish fighting ability!
Most deep sea rods are made from high grade fiberglass, so it isn’t just the ‘unbreakable-ness’ of them, but a huge amount of power in the butt section.
Take for instance the new 12’ 7wt Echo glass;
Takes I would assume a 500-540gr Skagit depending on preference. That particular rod would handle any steelhead on the planet, and be a solid choice for salmon up to 25lbs.
Glass is very unique and cool that way!
I have the 12’9” 7wt that is amazing. But I would prefer the shorter 7wt since I have a 13’ 7/8 already,

if anyone wants my Echo glass 7wt, ill sell it to you for the price of the 12’ 7wt
