I recently saw a video on youtube showing a trick to taking memory out of your leaders and wondered if anyone has tried this and noticed any ill-affects? Apparently if you soak your leader/mono in water for a few hours it will absorb some water and get rid of the line memory and become more supple and straight. No need to stretch it or run your fingers through it or use a leader straightener. The possible problem with this is that because the line absorbs water there is a risk of weakening the leader/line. Fluorocarbon is apparently the worst for this, however monofilament less so.
Just wondered if anyone has tried this out in the field and could comment on their experiences.
thanks
