A tough thread for me. I lost my best fishing buddy and friend last month. It happened much too soon.

The river is much more lonely this fall. Honestly hard to even find the motivation to get out at all.

Rufus on his last river adventures this summer. Miss you buddy.

He looks like he was an awesome dog, and I feel your pain. I too lost my best friend as well on August 10th, here are a few pics from our trip to his favorite river just a few days before his unexpected passing. He was wrapped in every fiber of my life, both on and off the water. Most of the time, I have to be on the water for work, where he joyfully came on every single trip for over a decade. I just had to do my first trip without him, and it was unbelievably difficult, beyond words. There is no pain that I know of that compares with the sadness of losing a beloved dog. Cheers to our friends, and we will be reunited again on the other side of the river, hopefully forever this time...

We adopted Maisie this summer and we're still working on her off leash recall so she hasn't seen much river time yet, but we can't keep her off the trail and out of the water (or from stealing my tying materials) so I'm taking that as a good sign of things to come!
