Have you considered the more flexible advantages of spliced joints?
These traditional spliced joints defined the early greenheart Spey rods, and are preferred by most Spey anglers as the give a modern cane wand a one piece feel while casting and added sensitivity while fishing a fly and fighting a hard running steelie or salmon.
