I need to tie 3 or 4 flies (e.g. 2/0 orange herrons) for displays and gifts and none of my capes have any feathers that are remotely suitable for tying larger hackle tip wings. So, as much as it pains me, I was wondering if any of you could point me to a source for a suitable cape(s)? I typically don't like buying materials for just a few flies but who knows, maybe I'll roll up a pile of them.

Also, are there any sources for small wall hanging display cases that would fit one large fly?

Hoffman and Whiting makes great capes, especially for dry flies, BUT I find for hackle tips wings, your generic cape is best. Usually white Chinese for larger and Indian for smaller, but cape quality can vary reflecting match curve of the stem.

Probably no helpful, when ever I am in a fly shop (there is no flynstore close to), I will look through capesand buy on after inspection.

I buy white and then dye to choice.

Feathers MC for everything you can get there. By far the best material I’ve found. If I can get it from John, I order it from him. I just ordered a bunch of hackle earlier today from him.
