How the heck do I make this cat not jump on my fly tying table, play with my feathers, or knock my bobbin around??? Any of you cat moms or dads have any good advice 😂

I tie around my little devil cat all the time. I only remove the materials I need and keep the rest tucked away… a sacrificial bucktail usually keeps him busy, but he’s known to steal the odd rhea feather that I have to chase him down for..

definitely tuck it all away when not being used. I’ve busted him many times trying to steal a polar bear patch

Our Cat ,a stray , was taught very early not to jump on any table counter etc, by spraying with a water bottle . He's never jumped on my very untidy tying desk .
He just saunters in ,looks around and walks back out .

I’ve read that the water bottle trick just basically makes them hate you 😂 but it sounds like it worked for your cat. I’m also interested if the tin foil thing works too

I don't think the water bottle spray made him hate us .He was a wild very independent individual when we first got him ,but has become quite affectionate and friendly .

I have a Bengal cat and I had to work with her and let her now the boundaries. She was not allowed in the room for awhile and now she loves to hang out with me and stays off of my bench. One thing that worked for me is have an area to play feathers included and make sure it’s not the tying room. I built a perch that she jumps up on and watches me tying and she enjoys that.

Best thing I did after the cat was get a roll top desk. I leave, I close it. Everything outside the desk is in lockable containers. The day that moron chewed on my dyed orange pheasant rump patch was the day he almost met his maker.
