Did the river Sept 16-22 and unawares to me, they had started jacking the flows up to lower Billy Chinook for some spillway repairs about the time I tossed in the boat. Fishing was extremely slow, and the wading was a bit tough in some of my habitual waters. Most I quizzed on the way down responded with "nothing." I got like 9 tugs in a weeks' worth of early AM late PM angling over typically productive waters. Got solid into 4 fish and only landed 2. Such trips are a great experience, but I'm old, remember tons of 7 and 8 fish days, and am there to hook into and land fish. My thoughts are that stable flows furnish the best angling. Four to 500 cfs short term variations in flows don't help much and they're doing a lot of adjustments throughout a day. Good luck if one's going to give it a go.
