Many thanks, Troy, for the link. I'd actually found it before too, and although the mag. is only $6.99, they're wanting nearly $40 to ship it to the UK - go figure!!

I no longer have the magazine, but you can find what I expect is at least substantially the same content in "Bull Trout," chapter 2 of Gierach's book "Fool's Paradise."
