I have a midspey 8/9 that seems a little short in the head and was wondering what windcutter upgrade, 7/8/9 or 8/9/10, might be appropriate to lengthen the head without creating problems of overloading. I have a 14'3" 8/9/10 wt rod. Have any of you folks messed arround with this combo?

PS- I wish shops would demo lines so you could "try before you buy"

Based upon my experience with the 9/10 and 10/11 MidSpeys with Upgrades added prior to the availability of the GrandSpey lines where I found going down one line size for the Upgrade was best for not getting the overloaded feel, I'd say you would be best served by using the 7/8/9 Upgrade with your 8/9 MidSpey. I make this recommendation because you are using the 8/9 MidSpey with this rod and the 8/9/10 Upgrade would give a slight overloaded feel and slower action while the 7/8/9 Upgrade would not.
