My wife has no idea how many rods I have and that’s the way it should be
I have a few Spey rods and always seem to want more.
Sage TCX 7119
sage TCX 8119 x3 (I love that rod)
sage one 1015 (best 15ft rod I have ever used)
Sage one 8126
sage one 6116
sage one 4116
sage X 9140
sage igniter 9140
sage igniter 8136
LTS explosive 6pc 13ft6in 9/10

I seem to like sage rods and All the above are keepers. I sold a sage x 1015 recently which is a lovely rod but a neck and back problem means I shouldn’t really use a 15ft rod but I can’t loose the sage one as it’s so good. I also sold a sage one 7136 which is a great rod too but I want the following rods;

sage x 7140
sage x 7130
sage igniter 6126

I also have a few single handed rods and a good few reels.
Actually I don’t have as many rods as I thought so a few more won’t hurt. Bonus time at work in June and I like to reward myself with the odd stick or two

Obviously short a Reid, and fortunately, that's being corrected this spring.

That's pared down recently.

For what it's worth, I drive a 16 yr old truck. That may or may not go over big with your girlfriend.

Cabelas LSi 7116 with Battenkill V (my main workhorse, mostly short scandi and skagit), Echo SR 8136 with SA System 11 (Midbelly), Redington Hydrogen 3113 with 3.5"W Sharpes Gordon (Trout Spey and river smallies). I'd like to add a Beulah or Meiser stick in the future, maybe a 7126

You mean, four, of, like, what? Seven-weights, eight weights, fifteen-footers ? Surely you don't mean four TOTAL? OK, here are the fifteen-footers:
9/11 Meiser MKS
7/8 B&W Powerlite
6/8 Meiser HC
T&T #11
T&T #9
9/10 B&W Norway
10/11 B&W Norway

plus the four comp rods. Those are 15' too. Might have missed a couple oddballs.

Last truck made it to 19yrs when I got rid of it last year. For a long time, rods definitely worth more than the truck. At the end I think I had single rods worth more than the truck. Rods I got on closeout. Time for a new truck. Trying not to buy any rods this year.

If she thinks four rods is plenty, tell her you want as many rods as she has pairs of shoes. Or tell her four pairs of shoes is enough! That ought to go over well.

I think a 7140 MKX, or possibly one of Bob's six pieces magic wands.

Does that help?

Now reels is just as bad!

P.S. don't ask about reels, I own most of the Hardy output!

You lost me on the first five words. If she is already nagging at you then that is a bad sign. The beauty of a girlfriend is that you don't need a lawyer to get rid of her and you can keep all of your stuff.

This could be embarrassing but here goes. For what it’s worth, I have thinned the herd quite a bit.

Meiser 11’1” HC 3/4/5
Meiser 11’9” S 6
Meiser 13’ SM 7/8 & 16’ SM 7/8
Meiser 15’ HC 6/7/8
Meiser 16’ S 7
Meiser 13’ MKX 7/8
Meiser 13’6” S 8
Meiser 16’ MKX 9/10
Meiser 16’ MKS 10/11/12
CND Solstice 14’3”
Scott T2H 12’6 7/8

If Bob just made a 16’ 7/8 MKX (in a four piece) I would have one of those too.

Well I’ll offer a different perspective, since it’s easy to get a bunch of gear heads to say “always more, always”. Your girlfriend isn’t wrong, judging by your quiver you’ve got a pretty broad spectrum of fishing scenarios covered (ok, you are missing an 8wt...). I think the default is that it’s always tempting to buy more rods, reels, lines, tying supplies, etc. Who doesn’t enjoy getting a new rod or reel, and the dreams that come with it! On the other hand, I’d rather have more money to spend on fishing trips...

In the case of rods I find that it’s also nice to have just the right tool for the job, rather than 5 which all offer their own specific quirks to weigh and consider. I hate hauling more than one rod along the river bank, or switching back and forth from one to another, and I’m always uneasy with expensive gear left in the car. There is something to be said for just grabbing the right rod, line, maybe a couple tip options, and a handful of flies and just go fish. I’ve done it plenty both ways, but I’m definitely moving gradually in the direction of knowing what I want and not taking piles of extra gear “just in case”. Where I have more issues with this is in the single hand realm, with two handed rods (swinging flies specifically) I’m finding that I can cover a much broader range of situations with fewer rod and line options.

Since you asked about quivers though here is our combined quiver, since my wife and I both share all of the following:
ARE 11’ 4wt
Revelation 10’8” 5wt
Highlander Classic 12’6” 3/4/5wt
Deer Creek 11’ 6wt
Ross Reach 12’6” 6wt
Immortal 13’ 7wt
Highlander Classic 11’ 8wt
One 12’6” 8wt
Deer creek 14’ 7/8wt

And yes, I’m still lusting for a few new rods lol. That said, I could also probably do very well if it just me fishing solo with the following: Highlander 12’6” 3/4/5wt, Immortal 13’ 7wt, and One 12’6” 8wt. Those three rods probably see about 70% of the total use of all our two handed rods anyways.
