Get ready for our very first SEATTLE FLY SHOW booth!!!

February 22-23, Speyclave Friday February 21st.

Check out the venue: it's going to be a full house:

http://flyfishingshow.com

CHECK THIS OUT - We're going to hold a Spey clave most likely on Friday with all the rod configurations you can imagine to try on a river nearby. Dana will give you the skinny on that. Who knows who will show up, with everyone in town for the show!

At the booth, we will have guest pro-tyers giving personal tying lessons - you keep the fly and fly case. We'll have a raffle for a glass display case with a selection of killer flies from some very respected names in the FF world as grand prize, second and third place drawings as well.

Come put a face to a name at the Worldwide Flyfishing Forum booth!

Much more to come...

Spey Clave

well, here's the thinking: the Friday before the show we have an informal get together at an appropriate location within striking distance of the show venue. A bunch of spey bums hangin' out by a river, castin' rods and BS-ing. Rather than set a rigid agenda, have it free form to develop as it does according to the circumstances and whims of the attendees (I'm kinda into chaos theory right now so this seems a good time to test its validity! ;) ), similar to what speybum did in November. Trying to organize a big event from Vancouver to take place in Seattle presents its obvious challenges, so I'm not going to look at organizing much at all and am open to all suggestions--like "Where should we have it?" would be a good place to start ...

2 questions:

1. Does everyone want to do this?
2. What does everyone want to do?

Watersprite,

Sounds like a plan to me since I'm planning to be there both days. I'm also planning to participate in the spey clave.

Dana,

I suggest the clave be held on the Snoqualmie in Carnation at the Tolt River Park. The bank is river right at the park; but just downstream at the bottom of the park is a footbridge over the river so the left bank is available literally just around the bend. It is only 15 miles from Bellevue and Speybum's shop is located there as well. Why not see if Speybum might be able to get this coordinated with the help of some of the forum members from the eastside.

Dana -

You make a great point, with everything we need to do for the show itself we don't want to get too mired with details.

Even still I think we can borrow a page out of the Sandy River Clave story with the fantastic job Mark Bachmann has done down there in neighboring Oregon. Although the whole event is very loose and ad lib, there is a basic schedule of short casting presentations that I think will be very exciting if we can pull it off with the bazillion other things we need to get done. If not, well then we sure know how to kick back and enjoy time on the river!

Other than contacting a few of the folks and if successful blocking off some time for them if they wish to do a demo, the rest will be the Krispy Kreme kick back and cast BS session many of us enjoyed at Speybum's shindig in November. Speybum, your assistance will be of great value thanks! Dana and/or I will contact you directly to let you know what we need.

This is all up for discussion, but how about starting at 11 or noon on Friday, maybe with a grill or two burning some burgers by the river and a serious rack of rods at the ready. Alternate demos and breaks through the afternoon until dark.

What time is dark nowadays in the great PNW? If we have any guests from the show they will need to make themselves available for setup at the show facility the night before the opening on Saturday, but typically from dark to closing is plenty and there is lead time on Sat AM as well.

Geez, this stuff just gets better and better, and I'm left inside out of the rain and the rivers. No time for fishing or tying or casting or going to shows until work slows down or my kids' basketball season is over! My daughter has a tournament that weekend so there's no getting around it.

I'm not complaining about spending time with my kids, but the river always beckons, and I'd like to tie some flies to help out... grumble, grumble.

You all have fun...
