This isn't a book review, but rather an author review with a couple of book suggestions. I was introduced to Wendell Berry by my daughter who gave me the novel, Jayber Crow, and warned me it was a "slow burn." It is one of the best novels I have ever read. I have since read A Place on Earth and am slowly and working my way through a collection of essays called The World on Fire...slowly because there is so much to chew on in every essay. Berry does not write about fly fishing per se, but the themes in his works of fiction are about family, friends, the simple life and a closeness to the land. The essays I have read are environmentally oriented and prophetic. If you rely on fast moving plots, move along. If you enjoy thoughtful writing that you can chew on and savor, do yourself a favor and read some Wendell Berry. You can thank me later.:wink2:
