Bruce would say Fit Form and Function is perfect but maybe some of the fondness is due to the sentimental value and those lovely offerings inside.

your posts are always enlightening.

I have a Wheatley with the leaf in it. It's a great box but thick. I think I would prefer two like yours.

all that plays into it but the slim fit inside the waders is perfect it’s about half the thickness of a regular Wheatley

Congrats....a slim Wheatley or Hardy Neroda also slips in and out of a jacket pocket or shoulder bag easier. These cases also suit those deadly clear low water patterns you have.
Regards....Jim

Love that model box too, Bruce.
A good friend gave me one for Christmas based off a suggestion from Poppy at the Red Shed. It's perfect and carries smaller than it actually is!

Here are a couple vintage examples...my family has fly fishermen going back nearly a century on both sides, the box on the left was inherited from my wife’s uncle in Scotland, mostly trout wets. The other was my grandfather’s who frequented many Michigan UP streams in the 1920s and 1930s with a few heavy irons on top. Probably the perfect pocket sized box for many applications.
