I would like to try fishing flies tied on tubes. Until now I have fished flies mainly on Tiemco 7999's (1/0-4) and Daiichi 2051's (AJ Spey hk., 1.5-5). I know how they sink on the various runs/pools that I fish using the various tips that I use.

I was wondering how the sink rates of 1" tubes made of plastic, aluminum, copper, or brass with a short shank hook attached would compare to the hooks mentioned above (same fly tied on each).

Just trying to establish a reference point having never fished tubes.

Thank you for your input!
