Would love to hear peoples opinions of their top 5 wish list destanations for a speyfishing trip. Right now mine would be:

Thompson B.C.-chromers
Mongolia-Taimen
Alta-Norway-elvis(THE kING)
Ponoi River Russia-elvis
Kamchatka Russia-elvis

Would be as follows:

The Helmsdale - Jan - Feb

The Dee - March - April

The Spey - May - June

The Beauly - July - August

The Tweed - Sept - Nov

Fortunately I have managed to carry out most of my wish list. I have always thought about Russia or Canada, but I think it would be very hard to match the above fishing.

Hey Gord,
I keep trying to get you to come to Canada fishing, next year maybe, my choice would be the Spey , the ness if i ever got an invite , the castle beat or ness-side, but no invite as yet. :lildevl:
Going to Vancouver island for a couple of weeks, then four weeks fishing around BC, going to film some of it so i can convince you and Scott to come over. :)

Ness Castle in August? A salmon every 10 casts sounds OK.

Ah, you patriotic Scots! :hihi:

Right now the only thing I´m dreaming about is the March trip to the Spey and the Dee! (Willie, will get back to you as soon as I´ve had a sit-down with the fellows. They are still high as kites after having a fantastic week on river Gaula, a trip I was meant to be part of if it wasn´t for the new baby arriving two weeks later than planned. But not even salmon fishing can match having a beautiful baby boy!)

I´ve stopped dreaming about stuff I´m not likely to experience for a long time but now and then I dream of a prime week on a top Spey beat, or perhaps the Kola peninsula. With the risk of being blasphemous (how the hell do you spell that) sometimes I picture myself bone fishing or stalking trout in NZ...

You´re right, this season has been a bumpy ride. Our gang had two spates, every one followed by great sport.

Where and when did you fish?

I have to keep one or two rivers secret, or everyone would be fishing them!! :smokin:

I always fish week 29 (mid July) on the middle river (GFF beat). We did have a spate but it didn't do any good for some reason. It's the first year I've had it so tough. That's salmon fishing though

Dana, I thought you would have made the effort to come to Scotland to fish the Spey where speycasting was invented.

Kola in June??? you would be much happier on speyside.
