At $45 a foot, it's right in line with other rods on the market... At a cost per foot basis :chuckle:

Hammer,

Kush posted on a different thread that he knew where a Hardy 20 ft rod was located. Why not contact him or the fellow he mentioned in his post on it? And since he said it was a Hardy, why not search out Hardy's web site and see if they offer it as a blank? Same with B&W, who we know makes 18 ft rods.

If it is simply a rod over 15 ft, there are several 16 ft rods made in the U.S. and the Sage and T&T blanks for them are available from dealers, although you will have to order them. Talon also has a 17 ft blank available through special order, it is slower than the Sage and a lot slower than the T&T.

The problem is that there just are not many rods or blanks on the market over 16 ft because most people consider them to be too much rod. I love my 16 ft T&T, and I also really like the CND Thompson Specialist (16'7"); but most people either think they are too much rod or find them to be too much for themselves. I am looking forward to the 17ft (hopefully Robert will make it 17'6") rod that Robert Meiser mentioned he is working on becoming available later this winter.

Also keep in mind that there are not a lot of 16 ft or longer rods sold in a given year. Thus, manufacturers don't want to put in the design time for the very small market and limited return.

Another UK manufacturer you should look at is Clan Rods. They make an 18' rated 11/13 - enough of a beast for most people, I'd have thought, unless you're into hard core masochism! I think one of the finalists in the Musto comp. used this rod.

Don't know if they do blanks, or only finished rods.

The CND 16' 7" Thompson Specialist comes to mind but unfortunately this exclusive aerospace graphite blank is not available as a blank, only in a finished rod.

As Tyler mentioned in another post, the Specialist has been built in over 17' but is not in production at that length at this time.

yes in the future i'll own a rod or two from these manufacturers, unless i blow out a shoulder on the way,the object here for me is to handle a big rod,use one,for those sundays that are really not good fishing days because of high colored water, but great days to get out,get some air etc.plus exp.that's really what i'm after, might not like them at all,but i'll never know till i swing em'''i'm still remembering my river Rogue last winter, blown out for weeks, journeys to the illinois,a trib, could've used a max. rod there, anyway,we go on as there's no turning back now!!
