While I acknowledge the different views on foreigners fishing the Thompson, I still dare to ask the Thompson experts on the spey pages; is the Thompson open for fishing this November as it was last year?

Kind regards, Norwegian

yes, it is. the run estimate is 1000 fish. currently the river is about 3 ft higher than normal due to heavy rains in the BC interior.
Just currious, how are they able to estimate the run in such a big river?

It's a poor method of estimation according to the Biologist that runs the program. Last year no steelhead at all were recorded at Albion. Thenty-five hundred were counted on the reds in early Spring.

Check with the ministry of highways before anyone heads out to the Thompson now...big landslide just north of Spences has Highway #1 shut down. The alternative route " the Coquihalla has a NO TRAVEL advisory due to heavy winter snow conditions.
