many of you fish streams of rivers abundant with steelhead or salmon that are hatchery raised ... one important element is common to all thru observation ... they rise readily to brown surface dries ... in nova scotia, the "brown bug" is very popular and effective : tail - buctail, body - deerhair, hackle - brown ... brown bivisibles also work ... even trout in mountain streams relish these morsels ... remember to call the local hatchery manager for feeding times : when these guys are most likely to be active ... years ago, I thought the best outfitting spots were aquaculture stations, where everyone was assured of a rise to anything brown on the water ... LOL
