Thanks to all who gave their suggestions on what to buy for a beginner.
I went to The Fly Shop in Welches and they were kind enough to spend some time with me on the Sandy Teaching me the basics of Spey Casting. And helped me purchase the right things.

I bought the DNB 13ft 7/8, Tioga 12 reel, and a Rio windcutter.

For those of you headed to the Descutes bring your vidio camera and if you capture me trying to cast on film you may win the Americas Funniest Home Vidio. I will be the old guy with the line wrapped around my head.

Thanks Again

Therapy

Went to therapy today on the Deschutes. Cant cast for a hill of beans yet, but one steelhead felt sorry for me and grabbed the fly. Probably out of self defense from me beating the water to a froth. :))
