Hi Guys: Have any of you cast the new Temple Fork Skagit rod, I think it's 13'3" for 8/9? How does it compare with similar size Skagits such as the MKS 13'6" 7/8 or CND's North Fork Specialist? If you do like the TFO, what line does it match up with? Thanks, Keith

Howdy Keith...

Comparing the TFO skagit rod to two of the very best examples out there that cost twice as much doesn't seem like a fair comparision.

I can tell you that if you want a skagit rod that won't break the bank I think the TFO version is a pretty good choice. Not to many spey consumers have these rods as yet so feedback may be lacking. I have sold 3 of these with no complaints.

I have not tried this rod with a skagit line yet but I have cast one of these quite a bit with a Jim Teeny short spey line in 8wt (602grns) and it did rather well with my limited casting ability. Like all TFO rods it comes with a "NO BS" fast turn around warranty.

You could take a test drive. Then you could give us your opinion of the TFO skagit rod.:smokin:

Thanks Mike, I may do that. Has anyone else out there cast this rod and, if so, what do you think? Seems like I've been hearing about it but can't find anyone who has fished it. Thanks, Keith

I was one of the 3 that purchased one from Red Shed (great customer service!)

I bought it as a 2nd rod and have cast botha skagit 450 and 550 with it. i really liked the 550 and also liked how the rod has a very progressive bend all the way down to the butt section. I find myself fishing this rod more than my scott a2 8wt, which has a very fast tapper.

great rod very happy with it. I also own a tfo 6wt spey and love that rod too!

Hey Scott...

but what line are you using on the TFO 6 wt--
The 6/7 Delta or 6/7/8 WC will both work really well on the 12'6"-6wt TFO.
For a floating line leader I've been taking a 15' Rio knotless spey leader (8# or 10# tip) and cutting 2' off the butt.

ramjet, i use a wc 6/7 floater and also a skagit 450 for casting tips, both work great with the rod. I find myself using this rod more than my others.
