"Dog" is "God" spelt backwards for a good reason?

Sandy is failing and there's not a damned thing I can do about it. Save for 'cant's' he's always been within 10 feet of me. Now just sitting next to my desk. My hand on the ruff of his neck;you can type with one hand.

Not much time left for Sandy, except for my tears. I will have lots of those for a long time, for a very good friend. Many of you will understand; many of you have met him.

Many of you have had an exceptional 'four legged' friend. I don't care how 'shxttie' your day may have been but a head in your lap and fluff ears is worth $20,000 worth of 'therapy.'

"And so God made a Dog."

Fred,
I needed that video . it is beautifull. i know what you are feeling my friend's name was buddy a black lab. it took me a 2 years before i could feel it was ok to add my new friend. and friend he is . he acts like a cat. if you arent ready for him to say hi you will get run over. his favorite thing is to run between the legs and do the figure 8 thing like a cat to say hi to me. i would not change him for the world. To love a dog is awsome.

Finally got him to lay down in the bedroom floor.

Took some doing as he's 100 pounds and I'm only 60 pounds (at this point) heavier. Small pillow under his chin and blanket over next to the open slider door. Smell the air my Friend, smell the air.

Edit before I hit 'Post.' A large Fur Face just staggered into my office. He doesn't want to be alone. I understand.

Thanks Fred. Our chocolate lab has lost her eyesight because of glaucoma and is having the eye removed on Monday. Although she never was any good at fishing (or bird hunting for that matter) she is a good friend and family member. She is 12 and the eye thing has made her depressed. Hopefully the procedure will eliminate discomfort and she can get back to her usual joyful self for a while longer. We are undecided about another dog as well.

Dogs are great but it is hard when they go.

I am currently sitting next to my rambunctious year and half old mutt, she might be at the beginning of her life, but I am familiar with the pain of losing a dog. There have been a few in my life. I'm very sorry that you have to go through this. Just know the dog is just happy being with you and you have given that dog a quality life.

Fred,
The old saying around here is that a man is only entitled to one good horse and one good dog in a lifetime.

I know we have both exceeded our entitlements; I know Sandy and Husky were both great.

Thoughts are with you.

Final moments?

Let Sandy out side for a potty break?

He laid down in the grass, which is something he hasn't done in 11 years. Went/got/put a heavy blanket over him to keep him warm. Sorry for this rant but walking around shaking my fists and 'What could I do better????'

Answer is nothing. But I'm having a hell of a bad time accepting that. Old Men do cry.

Fred,

I know you and I are less than friends but I do want you to know you are in my thoughts at this difficult time. He was lucky to have you.

I have never had an ill thought towards you. And I mean that in all truth. Over God knows how many years I/You have been on this board there have been a few times where we have 'Agreed to disagree' but I can count those on the fingers of one hand.

Spey Pages is, truthfully, "A Band of Brothers." We share, we 'Ah Heck,' God that's a beautiful new rod/reel/fish. Etc.

But most of all we are "A Band of Brothers."

And you are one of my Brothers.

Wonderful posting my friends.

I'm having a very hard time at the moment; these posts really help.

Amazing how 'four legs' in your life makes it a whole much better. You can 'talk to people' and they hear you ... a Dog understands? 0200'ish and thinking about stock/bond trades, and 'What do you think?'

A body shake and 'no,' a head in lap and lots of money just changed hands. Sandy's only been wrong a couple of times. Darned Dog is better at this than I am.

Fred, my dog past away a week after my daughter was born. Some part of me believes he gave his life for hers. Call me crazy but she was 7 weeks premature and in the icu when he past at 10 yrs old. The other day my daughter told me she cant wait to die so she can have angel wings to fly up to heaven and see Dakota. Talk about a tear jerker. All the best for you and your pup, just remember.....all dogs go to heaven

just sat down beside him in the grass.

The world 'Helplessness' has a whole new meaning. His head up an inch, hold same and have another good cry. Yes, 'old men' do cry. Back out side in a moment to pull the blanket over both of us. I am dead tired.
