Sure, that's what it's for...a spey rod. The term switch rod is just a short spey rod.........around 12' and under. So a switch line is for a short spey rod. Your rod is close to this size and I see no reason why a "switch" line won't work provided it's within the grain window of your rod and the head is the appropriate length. You didn't say what weight your rod is but I assume it's an 8wt if you're using an 8 wt line. Having said that, there may be better lines depending on your quarry, casting style,swinging, etc.will switch line work on a spey rod-I am looking for responses from people that know...I have a 12'4 loop spey rod and am using a 8wt switch line on it...if not gonna work please explain why

Stick with that windcutter...you'll be glad you did!I just bought an ion reel for my loop spey I was speaking about--replaced the line with rio windcutter spey line---more weight in the belly---went out and tested it---amazing feel--line went out better than I have ever seen it...all good--you guys use this line before--if so any feedback and ideal usese would be thankfully received..
