Id like to fish the summer run on the thompson this year. Never been. Any one know of any good guides in the area that I can contact. Also, if any one has any other recommendations, Id love to here them.

Much thanks!

It is my understanding that guiding is prohibited on the Thompson. I may be wrong and if I am, I am sure some of the Thompson regulars will chime in.

Guiding on this river is illegal and always has been, though that never kept them or their paying customers away over the years.

But this is all a moot point now because the river for the most part is closed to all steelhead fishing.

It is open for trout June through September 30, 2004 but is closed to ALL FISHING (including whitefish and trout) begining 01 October through 31 December, 2004. Expect more of same in 2005.

Every time you see a Fraser River chum salmon lying on ice in a supermarket with a $ .90/lb price tag on it, you'll know which side had the finer-tuned edge in the political process.
