Does anyone know if an Airflo 40+ would be a good Stillwater line for use with my switch rod. I Just need to cast as far as possible stripping fly's. I'll be fishing for trout on the surface mostly, or slightly under.

That depends of the rod you are using. I have 2 different switch rods that I have tried overhead casting. One is just wimpy and the other gets the job done.

I think the wimpy one is because I didn't use the right line on it.

What rod are you going to be using?

Wasn't it designed for exactly this purpose? Banging out long lines (albeit on single handed rods) on UK reservoirs for trout.
As long it's the right model (weight) for that rod, I'd say it'd be perfect.

line ideas

You could also try a light scandi head. Rio makes a 210grain. You could cast this over head but would have to slow things down. More likely you may want to make one or have it made, my guess would be between 150-170 grains. I used to use shooting heads on my surf rods and lake rods all the time. They shoot like crazy but you need to weight for them to get the most out of your cast and not over load the rod.
