Ive considered making up my own shanks using spinner wire. How do they hold up?

I've tied on 0.040 spinner wire shanks for a couple years now. Nice to tie on and never a problem fished. All stainless as well so they last a long time. I buy all mine in bulk so that also makes them way more affordable than shanks. Thanks Mike ! Yes ive done well on the olive and amber combination in the past.
Flycaster i haven't tested them yet, as im on a 6week dry spell from fishing :Eyecrazy: These wire forms arelike a spring steel and very flexible, not much stiffer than the doubled over senyo wire trailer. Im not sure if this is a good thing or bad!
