Leroy's latest post in the "Anchors" thread below and Juro's Casting Glossary started in the Forum, along with a conversation I had with Al Buhr a few weeks back, has me thinking that it might be a good idea to start a glossary of Spey-related terms here on the clave in order to clear things up or perhaps further muddy the waters!
As Leroy points out, "anchor" and "grip" refer to the same thing, the contact of the leader and in some cases some of the line with the water prior to the completion of the forward stroke. Two others are "white mouse" and "rooster tail", both referring to the "riffle of spray" that follows the spey line as it is pulled from the water during the D loop formation of the double spey and snap-t/circle spey casts.
