Several of us will be on the water in Fall City by late morning testing some new toys before hitting a local eatery for a pre-clave lunch. We'll get things rolling formally at 1 pm with my casting efficiency presentation, followed by some time to test gear and socialize before Nobuo takes to the water @ 2:30 to demonstrate his casting methods. Afterwards I'll break out my Loop Adapted Line Systems for those of you who want to try the underhand cast with shooting heads, and we'll have more time for casting and splashing about before the Forum crew has to pack up and head to the convention center to set up for Saturday.

We have notified show exhibitors of the event and expect that some of them will be joining us for the afternoon. I'll be available to provide free casting instruction--please feel free to approach me with your questions! Tackle systems from many of our sponsors will be available for test casting, including RIO lines, Loop rods/reels/lines, Thomas & Thomas rods, and CND Spey rods, plus a few surprises. We have confirmation that some of the Northwest's Spey/steelhead luminaries will be joining us...but you'll have to be there to find out who!

We'll also be "passing the hat" at the clave and hope that those of you who appreciate all we do here will throw in a few bucks to help the cause.

2 weeks!

spey casting basics clinic?

I've received several requests for this through pm/email so let me put it out there for a general response:

how much interest is there in a basic spey clinic the hour or two before the formal start of the clave? This would present newer casters with the basics to work on over the afternoon and also allow us a chance for a little more one-on-one time. With the basics covered much of the stuff in the other presentations will make more sense.

and would you be willing to support the Forum to the tune of say $30 a head to participate?

New toys for the lads to playwith

Been busy doing a little politicking and I hope it pays off as to the Subject of getting new toys for the lads to play with.
I hope to have a Sage 5120-4 on board and a Loop Blue 7116-4 for us light Spey fans.
With doing so I may be able to figure out pmflyfishers love affair with this rod.
Roomer has it that Sage’s 10161/4 will make a showing give us a chance to work beside the T&T DH 1611-3 and the most hornable CND 16/8.
Talked to LUV2SPEY and his bout with the Winter Flue is over and I am hoping that he will be in Attendance also.

Good Day at fall city

Where do I begin?
I would like to thank Juro Mukai for Ram Roding the First Annual Fall City "flyfishingforum.com."
Speyclave.
It was kind of nice just take a busman’s holiday to work with a few casters and cast the wide variety of rods.
Dana Sturn of International Spey Pages pages fit in a beginner’s class and speycasting efficiency in which even I learned a few things. You are never too old to learn.
Nobuo Nodera of Customs designed CND rods stepped into the river at 3pm and showed how the ghillies in Scotland fish the River Spey. It was truly something to see him pick up and cast 100 feet of full sink line!
It was really good to watch as, Ed Ward, Mike Kinney, and , Tim Rajeff cast ;each one a northwest legend.
In between demos, Kush, Doublespey, Mike Kinney, John Reid, Speyman, Ed Ward, Tim Rajeff, Highlander, Rimmys, Nobuo and many others worked the river helping people with their casts.
There were over 75 people testing new rods like the Sage 5wt two-hander, the CND Customs designed by Nobuo Nodera, Loops, and Meisers as well all sorts of lines
As the evening crept on to use it was a great site to watch as Dana and Nobuo traded cast for cast with on of the CND Specialist rods.

You could not ask for a better day,
