I have a Burkie 8133-3 that I've tried numerous Skagit heads of varying grain weights and I still can't dial it in. I Use it for heavier sink tips (T12+) and weighted flies for winter work. Any advice on what the magic number is? Thanks everyone

Whats the grain weight window? Try to get something closer to the top end may work with the heavier tips/flies. Also mess around with your overhang. I found that effects my casting more than what head I have on my rod (Scott 12'8 7wt T3H and Ross Reach 11'9 7wt).

Maybe try calling the Gorge Fly shop (google em) I know they sell alot of Burkys and maybe beable to help you. Always had good experiences with them.

BTW what is not "dialed" about your set up?What do you think will improve with a different head?

I saw that chart but I'm surprised how underlined it is. The guys over at Burkie say you can push up to 660. Incredible how wide the grain window is on that rod (as well as most burkheimers). Thanks for all of your input. Have a great week.

Awesome. Thx man for the feedback. My buddy is letting me use his Airflo Skagit Compact 630gr when we hit the upper D on Friday. I bet it's gonna make that baby sing. Tight lines

Actually I never ended up throwing the 630 with it. I love my Loop Cross S1 8130 so much that I don't even grab my 8133. I would still like to dial it in, but by the time I start packing up to hit the river I just grab the Loop. I would appreciate your feedback after you get her dialed in. Thanks for the message. Cheers
