I am looking to get a jacket to act as a layer under my water proof shell. I have been using a Patagonia nanofill coat, but I would like something with a hood and that interacts with water better. In my research I found the Simms Exstream jacket. Looks interesting. I wanted to see if anyone on the PAges has one and to see how it works for them? Heck even better if someone has one they want to sell? Depending on how they fit I would be an L or XL.

Thanks for your time.

Patagonia

Hi,I have both Down fill and Primo,i can not fault them, both have hoods.
Also use sleeveless one underneath one of these when its very cold and find this combo with a light jacket is very light and none restrictive to wear.:)

When many folks first get the nano puff they are disappointed as it seems too light and flimsy but it is extremely warm and because of the lack of bulk it fits easily in any sort of layering system

I just picked up a new Simms Kinetic and they hit it out of the park with this one!.

Similar to the Exstream but has some stretch fleece in the under arm area and some stretch material in the wrists that is not suppose to wick as much water as other materials.

I was interested in the exstream jacket as well but when I tried it on it just seemed a little bulky. I'm normally wearing the G4 jacket on the river so I decided to just get a jacket for layering instead. Just like PGK I ended up going with the Kuiu super down hooded jacket. It's crazy light and warm. It took me a while to get it as it was backordered for what seemed like forever but all-in-all I'm happy I went with a layering concept and not just the exstream jacket.

Somehow the Nano puff from Patagonia just didn't work for me. I found when wearing say a good warm shirt underneath it that the arm holes were too small and it was tight. Getting the Kinectic tomorrow from Simms and after trying one on I know it is the ticket.
