I had to tie something different. Recently picked up some MFC shanks which are very elegant platforms to tie on. Much better than other shanks if you care about details and such. I even managed to hide small dumbell eyes in there.

I don't have or fish many bright flies. For some reason I tend toward muted colors, natural colors, etc etc. But I think a bright shank like this has its place for catching fish now that the rains are coming. And if your dress them up a bit, its not so different from fishing Irons

Nice! I always enjoy your ties but I especially like this one. I tie and fish mostly shanks and I'd gladly put this one on the bizness end of my line.

Really attractive shank. Love the dressing. It should fish really well!

Nice clean head too..

Thanks, lots of influence from your recent patterns if I'm being honest.
Yeah, this rooster cranks out some lovely hackles for me. hard to see in the photo, but the tips of the feather are more bright red/orange than the rest.
The clean head is a bad habit from tying mainly on irons ;) I even snuck a floss and tinsel body with hens hackle under that "wing", just to make it feel a bit more classy.
