This is my first season of American shad fishing. I wish I thought to try it years ago. I had no idea how fun it is! Anyhow, I figured I'd try some Snaeldas for water that requires a fly to get down quickly. I have had fish nip at the back end of fly without getting hooked. I figured a tube with a hook mounted all the way at the back might help solve this problem? We'll see how they do tomorrow...

They are tied on SRFS's 14 mm shrimp tubes (heavy and w/the flange).

You can go even further and use tungsten cone head .
Not so nice to cast with fly in weight 2-3g but sometime it is a must .
With skagit line or DDC it is still possible
Also is not bad idea to have a helmet ;-)

Thanks, guys. The hair is calf tail.

I tried them the other day, but the water is too low. I caught shad on small stuff...size 10 wets and a size 8 pink mini puff with bead chain eyes. It was nice not to have to get a fly way down for once.
