I am looking into buying the Scott A2 13' 8wt. There seems to be a lot of information on the ARC and the LS2, but not much on the A2. Does anyone have input on this rod? I have heard that two-handed rods can have the need for specific lines. I have a Hardy Mach II Salmon WF 8 that was given to me. Does this line throw on this rod? What other lines might throw better if not?
Thank You
This is a decent, fast action rod suitable for Scandinavian style casts and lines. It has earned a fine reputation here in Norway for being very polite and strong. I think it shows its best with shooting heads in weights 30 - 34 grams.
I agree that this rods works best with a shooting head. It is quick and also excels as a overhead rod for stripers and such. the 1409 is still quick but better IMO as a do it all spey. If you did go with the 1308 and a spey line I would try a 9 wt. line.
Thanks guys for the input. I ordered the rod and was wondering about a line. I am thinking about the SA Spey/Skagit Deluxe in an 8wt (550 grain head and milti-tip). Has anyone used this line? Would it be ok on this rod?
i would try one size heavier on the Skagit if not two.
Cheers,
Greg
