hello all while rummaging about some old bits and bobs i happened across a spool of orvis flat beam running line . I bought this probably bought this 24 0r 25 years ago and it got me thinking of spooling it on to a reel but was wondering what size of a scandi head for a sage 8150-4. I know its an old rod but its my favourite rod still. Btw I use an ian Gordon 65ft head and i am more than happy with it(on my last one ). Pardon my ignorance if the rod wouldn't be suitable for such a set up . Thanks in advance for any replys

Have been using mine here recently - 7/8 GPS. But also have an IG 65' for it. A 7/8.
And yours?

Haven't cast a scandi head but have an Airflo Delta, 7/8/9 ... could "fit the bill" nicely.

Hello sorry for the late reply I use a ian gordon 65ft head 8/9. I think when I'm getting a new line it might be a vector again in a 8/9. Thanks for your thoughts on the scandi head. Just curious do you for salmon or steelhead?

Steelhead and pacific salmon. Mostly. The numbers of fish retuning to spawn are low, even by what Ive seen in my short time fishing for them. But Im hopeful and it is a super fun rod to cast. With several other rods - I hunker down with these old Sage GIIIs more often than not. Have not found a line I didn't like for it.

Cheers
