Can anyone make any recommendations as to motels, B&B's etc in the area? I will be bringing a friend this time. The mystic of the long rod is catching on, even down here in the southland. The current plan is fly to Portland and rent a car. We haven't gotten much further than that yet, other than the anticipated good times shared with friends and some good single malt. Email me here or at mailto:[email protected]

Thanks, JD

Spey Clave accomodations

Jim,
You may remember me as the guy with the trailer last year, there's enough time that you may be able to contact the Sandy Chamber of Commerce and get their brochure, or phone Metro @503-797-1700, perhaps they would send information your way(Metro runs the Oxbow Park and several other of the tri-county services here). If that doesn't work, email me at [email protected] and I'll see what I can gather up for you.
Best of luck, Bob

I am realy thinking about going as Juro is sending me some rods to play with and some expert advise would be cool.

I live in North Seattle and will be more than happy to drive if a few guys want to get together and car pool.

Let me know so I can start planning....

Northfork16,

The campground you stayed at was probably Oxbow. The same place where the Sandy Clave will be held. Right on the river, very nice, well kept.

accomodations, Sandy Clave

Marc Bachmann recomended the Best Western motel in Sandy. It is only about 8 miles from the park and has restuarants nearby. Fred Evens is going to check on setting up group rates for us.

Anyone planning on hanging around and doing any fishing after the Sandy Clave? Fishing the Sandy, or possibly some of the other rivers that might be showing better? Willing to take on a couple of rookies????

Best Western: Sandy Oregon

If you make a reservation 'identify' yourself as an attendie at the 2002 Sandy River Spey Clave. BW has agreed to give us a 10% group rate. (Full price) is $80 + tax for a single; $89 + tax for a double. Knock 10% off these figures.

Another good point that was passed on was also check if they have an AARP or AAA special rate. These could be even better if your a member of either organization. Some of us "old foggies" belong to both. Like using both a belt and suspenders?

Fred asked me to post this additional information for the Sandy Clavers

The Best Western in Sandy Or has offered the group a minimum of a 10% group rate discount if you advise them you're with the 2002 Spey Clave. Also recommended that folks calling check out a better rate if they're AAA or AARP members.
