Jonathan, you did a great job!! Thanks!!! Seems like everyone there was having a good time-as always the demonstrators were great--it sure looked easy until I went to the river today and quickly realized how good they really are!! Thanks to the companies for all the toys we had to play with and LOSA for the good food. Charlie's Gaspe show was a treat.

I'll have to second that report as well. It is great to see such an effort being put forth by both spey casters and companies to further the sport and products. Good job to all involved!!

I also had the the oppurtunity to put a couple faces to the names here on speypages. Pretty neat!!

A great time was had by all. Big thanks to Jonathan (Gillie) for organizing the event. It was very well done. Met some great people, a few of which I just know are going to be great new friends. The presentations and venders with there new equipment were fantastic.

And just when I think I am getting good at this crap I have to sit down and watch guys like Juro and Andrew Moy just playing around with a new rod and line combo. :Eyecrazy: Juro gets better every time I see him. And Andy Murray goes without saying. And the other guys Neil Houlding, Rick Whorwood, Ted Lewis and Rick Kustich? All top of the line.

The clave was a great success. Even the weather cooperated. There were severe thunderstorms the night before and we were worried they would continue into the morning, but we got lucky.

I appreciate the kudos but there were a lot of people who helped to make it work.

All the presenters were great and flexible with plans. Andy Murray, Juro, Rick Kustich, Neil Houlding, Andrew Moy, Ted Lewis, and Rick Whorwood all gave up time and travelled distances to make this possible.

LOSA did a great job with lunch and took that burden off my shoulders to free me up for other parts of the plan.

Nick Pionessa and the Oak Orchard fly shop went above and beyond the call of duty for helping to put this together, and Nick had to endure some late night phone conversations with me the week before while we were trying to put finishing touches on the event. They definitely showed there commitment to promoting spey in the Great Lakes.

Charlie also did a great slide show that everyons seemed to enjoy.

Rick Whorwood deserves a special thanks as he also spent a lot of time on the phone with me sharing his experiences with me that came from planning a clave.

The biggest thanks goes out to the Douglaston Salmon Run and Connie who is the river keeper. She put up with my insanity. They let us use the facilities and provided lodging for the presenters. This is really a great place to swing flies and if you haven't been there you should go.

As much as it was a success, I'm glad it's done :Eyecrazy: .I don't want to even talk about next years for at least a few months.

As far as me, I'm looking forward to the Grand River Clave in October where I can be just a spectator. We should all get up there. It's going to be a good time and there should be fish in the river :smokin: .

Great job to all the rep's and presenters. The organizers are due a special thanks for their efforts. A very enjoyable day and hope it is repeated in the future.

Great clave

Thanks to all especially Gillie for putting it all together. The presentations were great and certainly helped me. As was stated earlier put some faces to the names which was cool.
On another note you all left too soon. I stayed Sunday to practice casting and landed what is believed to be the first river salmon of the 2005 season. It was a dime bright hen Chinook 20#. Caught from an unnamed hole in the DSR. So gentleman start your engines.

My apologies

I'd like to apologize for my incompetence on Saturday afternoon. I'm not going to make excuses, other then I choked. It was by far the most embarrassing moment of my life. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to redeem myself at the next clave.

It was great to see some of the people I know and meet some new faces. The other presenters were incredible. It was a lot of fun to watch and listen to them.

Thanks LOSA for the great food and a special thanks to Jonathon for putting it all together and giving me the opportunity to present. Once again, I'm sorry for not coming through.

Charlie - Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing those flies! Sorry I missed your slide show.

I admire the candor in your post - but unlike the community here I saw you first-hand feeling very ill at o'dark thirty in the SR lodge living room getting zero sleep after a long day at work, making the drive, etc. There was more than just butterflies you were dealing with and I am surprised you toughed it out as long as you did.

I for one appreciate the effort you made to get there on the claver's behalf, and one day does not even make a dent in the years you've spent sharing your exceptional casting and teaching skills with your friends and customers.
