An excellent book that examines the diverse constellation of scientific (both Indigenous and Western) knowledge production concerning the ecological and anthropological contributions of salmon in the Pacific Northwest. Isabella is a journalist so her writing is clear and accessible to the average lay person. A really informative read for anyone who fishes for any anadromous species on the Northwest Coast. While taking a particularly BC focus, it’s a concise overview of the knowledge and research that often seems ignored by bureaucrats on both sides of the 49th parallel. Easily read in a day. Highly recommended.
