These rods are your 'Big Game' Hunter.

Will beat the hell out of you over a long days fishing but you can cast a 'fly' the size of a Dead Chicken with ease. And sometimes that's exactly what you have to do.

I'm past that age/stage; just sent off my 15' 10-11 to a far younger man.

Why would you want to cast a dead chicken with a 15' rod?

if that 15' is like there single handers i'd bet it's light and with an ounce of skill from practice should cast a long line all day without beating yourself up..

there are enough skagit rods out there that can cast that chicken...enjoy what the rod was designed for IMHO and you'll love it...

As a side not, the TCX is not like the method or ONE...while some will say and maybe rightfully so the ONE has more feel...I think the method is pretty nice as well and both have a lot more feel then the TCX...

as another aside...I didn't think i'd like a long rod rod or have a real use for one...after getting my walker, damned if I didn't order a 15' powerlite now to...and that 16' is calling to me as well....A well balanced big rod and a little practice so you can use either your left or right hand up for single speys on longer lines is a real joy...matter of opinion here...but casting a heavy skagit set up and dead chicken and snapping it all day would be more tiring IMHO.

Just a thought?

I'm 72, pushing 73, so I may safely assume you are a lot younger than me? Just needling you, you use the equipment that fits your needs, conditions, and you. I honestly remember when "Self said to Self:" Nine weight rod (and the 10) were more than I could physically handle.

No regrets, just an acknowledgement of 'reality.' Some times I, and Mr. Doggie-Dog on the beach, I haven't even cast. Just watch the water go by. That was enough. Dog was right; toss a tennis ball into the shallows and let him 'fetch' then hoist him back into the Jeep. He's heavier than hell now. Actually he hasn't changed more than pound (per the Vet) but my capabilities have changed.

The regrettable part its obvious Sandy's coming to 'End of Days.' Braking my heart, but he has been my 'Best Friend' for 11 years. There are 'no bad days' with a fur face against your leg. On a river bank, watching TV or in bed. A curl-up and a snuggle, and a sleep. "Snuff-Snort" and a wiggle-squiggle in. You have no more 'problems;' God has handed you the "Answer?"

Hey steelheadfreak
What is your intended use for the rod steelhead or Chinooks there are lots of different rods to fit your applications the 10130 sage one is a killer rod that will cast the big tips and flies for Chinooks as well as the 10130 loop multi if you can find one , the 8152 burkie , miez 15 7/8/9 highlander classic or 15 8/9 mks , B&W 15 7/8/9 powerlite , 15 7/8 or 8/9 glx grease line and if you want cheaper the tfo deercreek 15 8/9 is also a great stick for steelhead .
There's lots of good options
