is multifillament core. It comes in 30' heads
400 gr or 13.3 gr/ft
550 gr or 18.3 gr/ft
700 gr or 23.3 gr/ft
850 gr or 28.3 gr/ft
T-14 is mono core, thinner in diameter, and is lower in breaking strength.
I went through a phase back in the mid-90s where I made a number of tips out of the 550 DWE.
Based on my experieince, DWE casts much like a hunk of bicycle chain. While it was great back in the day compared to other available options, I don't think it even comes close to T-14. DWE is much thicker and doesn't slice down through the water column nearly as well as T-14.
I made tips out of a 550 dwe as well and all it ever did was hang up on rocks. It sinks too fast and I could only cast it with a 10 wt. It would be good for fishing for chinook or real deep applicatons but that's about it.
