SPEY CASTING CLINIC
DATES: MARCH 30-31, 2002.
INSTRUCTORS: Steve Choate (aka "Last/Longcaststeve) is an internationally know spey caster and is one of the featured casters at this year's Sandy Spey Clave. His name is often mentioned along with a handful of the world's best spey casters.
Way Yin M.D. (aka Spey Bubba) is almost as widely recognized as Steve and is also among the top spey casters in the world. When not spey casting, Dr. Yin is the Medical Director of Interventional Medical Associates of Bellingham, WA.
LOCATION: Denmon Bar/Modoc Ponds on the Rogue River just north of downtown Medford, OR. There will be instruction for the participants on Sat with video taping. Sat evening we'll have BBQ at sponsor's place with video play back/instructions. Then back on the river on Sunday for more hands on.
COST: for the weekend will be $250 including two continental breakfasts and gourmet riverside lunches and one dinner. Max enrollment is set at about 10 students. (Doesn't make that $250 sounds so bad now does it?)
EQUIPMENT: provided by Sage and Scott rod companies. If you ever wanted to try spey casting without purchasing equipment here is an opportunity.
B]PROCEEDS: ...96% OF THE 'TUITION FEE' WILL BE GOING TO YOUTH ORIENTED FISHING PROGRAMS. AS THE FUNDS FROM THIS PROGRAM WILL BE GIVEN TO 503C CHARITY GROUPS YOUR 'TUITION' MAY WELL BE FULLY TAX DEDUCTABLE.[/B]
CONTACT: [email protected] or (541) 857-0700, (541) 734-2714

Day two (Sunday 31 March) Denmon Bar/Modoc Ponds river beach.
0800-0900: breakfast, review of questions from first day
0900-1200: river left, review and refine single spey, instruction on circle cast, square cut, snap-”t”, distance tips, sinktip fishing
1200-1300: lunch, demonstrations, single hand spey casting
1300-1500: river right, instruction on backhand techniques, etc. (Back across to Little Butte Creek area)
1500-1530: debrief, final comments, adjourn
I will edit video and provide master of class video to sponsoring shop/organization, up to shop/org. whether to make copies for students (very popular).
During class you will be limited to 'yarn' for fly casting practice. Two major reasons: Too darn many fish running under your nose at that time of the year in the upper Rogue. And we don't want anyone 'hooking' a fellow student. At lunch/after class I'd recommend you have an Oregon fising license.
