About snakes that is. Never even heard about a Rattler around here.

That is some good tying. It should hunt just fine.

I'd make the wing a bit shorter, more like 3/4th the distance to the tip of the tail simply because I like the look of a slightly shorter hair wing in the style of Atlantic Salmon hair wings, rather than the longish[wing style steelhead hair wings of the 1920's through the 1960's,most of which were tied on larger, heavy wire, down-eye wet fly hooks with chenille bodies, longish tails, and longish wings that were of proportion to the length of the hook.

I can just about guarentee you'll find 'Rattler's' in the Bend area.

One place you really pay attention is along the banks of the Deschutes River; area has far more than 'its fair share.' Wouldn't consider taking my dog to that river.

Right out of Howell's book. Nicely tied. BTW - given that much of what's posted here are dreamt-up patterns, I think its a good idea to specify the pattern when you're posting something that's well known, or should be. A similar pattern I like is the redwing blackbird.
