For my T&T 1409, I want to build a Skagit line from a WC 10.11.12, per your post a while back.
My intention was to divide the WC floating tip 2 into 1/3, 2/3 parts.
FYI, Rio WC 10/11/12 nominal specs are:
• body 24’ 378 grains
• tip 2 float 15’ 200 grains
• tip 1 any sink tip, 15’ 166 grains.
Total head 54’ 744 grains
My tip 2 float actual weight is 207 grains.
I recall that you prefaced your Skagit building advice with the assumption that current Rio WC tips 2 are level, but that is not the case. Following are the O.D. measurements of the WC 11 tip 2.
0 foot: .065 [at the loop]
0.5 foot .065
1 foot: .066
2 foot: .069
3 foot: .070
4 foot: .072
5 foot: .074
6 foot: .078
7 foot: .078
8 foot: .080
9 foot: .081
10 foot: .088
11 foot: .088
12 foot: .088
13 foot: .088
14 foot: .088
14.5 foot: .088
15 foot: .066 [at the loop]
Weight of sections of the 15’ float tip 2:
• tapered 1/2 [7.5’]: 92 grains [44% of head weight]
• butt 1/2 [7.5’]: 115 grain [56% of head weight]
• tapered 1/3 [5.0’]: 58 grains [28%]
• butt 2/3 [10.0’]: 149 grains [72%]
• butt 1/3 [5.0 ‘]: 84 grains [41%]
• tapered 2/3 [10.0’]: 123 grains [59%]
Given the above data, what is your recommendation re dividing tip 2 to make a WC 11 Skagit line?
Thank you for your help.
