Picked up this Rio Midstream spey in an 8/9 multi tip,50ft head, comes with a 15ft floating tip, 15ft Type 3 sink tip, and a 15ft Type 6 sink tip weighing at 125grs. I think Rio marketed it as a budget shorter version of the Windcutter. First impressions were.... hum..., a fully intergrated line, continuous taper unlike the Windcutter's step taper, man this line has some meat on it,very similar to a scandi. First cast....are you kidding me????WOW!!,cast after cast same results.Switched out to the Type 3 then Type 6 tips, same results, no problems tossing tips either( to be honest I was very skeptical). My buddy fishes a WA55, and we both thought it felt very similar. This line was probably the easiest and better performing short head lines, I have ever used.At clearout prices everywhere, might be a poor mans alternative to a WA55. Please note that I have no affiliations or interests with Rio, and everything expressed is just a personal opinion
