I put this on the classic atlantic salmon board and I am putting it here also.

Anybody ever do the Gaspe thing. I am considering it for next summer. I know about the lottery thing on November 1st. Have any tips on how to do it cheap or rivers that are more promising than others. Also looking for information on were I could fly too and rent a car if thats posible?
Anything will help.
Thanks

I've been fishing Gaspe since '72
For the 01/11 draw you can put in up to 10 "card's" for each river
.# 1 gets first choice of dates etc through the available rod/days available(2 per day and 2 days per draw)Therefore if there's 2 of you ,you cauld possibly get 4 days fishing on reserved waters. As in all things ,one can be lucky and get the best pools on the bets rivers at prime time and zero out(as per this year ..Fish were 3 to 4 weeks late.)
Since you mentioned "cheap" the Bonaventure has v.g. public waters as does the Matapedia and York.As for fav's it would depend on time of year .
My personal favourites are,Bonaventure, Dartmouth,Madeleine, York, Causapscal,Petite Cascapedia, Matapedia, and Grande Riviere in that order. All these rivers except for the Matapedia and Causap. have gin CLEAR waters.
Let me know ifyou are successful and I'l share my notes on pools and flies
Cheers
Brian
