Looks like SA has purchased Charlton (rumored to be a former Boeing machinist from Washington State) and put up a very fancy webpage, they had the marketing department do the work and forgot to include things like spool diameter, backing capacity, etc.
Anyone out there have specs on the 8550 and 8600 series reels?
This is the, " Configurable," reel with four different spools available. Specs allege Rio Windcutter 10/11/12 plus 375 of 30 dacron with the Spey spools. Diameter is 4.5" and weight around 12-13oz depending on spool. The other spools are labeled, " Bonefish," " Tarpon," and, " Offshore," with capacaties on each, well in excess of whatever you might need for that species.
This reel is perhapse a little more than any bonefish/striper/steelhead would ever demand, but this is far and away the BEST tarpon reel I have ever fished. So, there would be nothing wrong with using it for other species between tarpon/blue water trips. Hey, you can't take it with you(and your kids will fight over it after your gone).
