Having seen a handful of these lately, I wanted to post a quick reminder that requesting or requiring Paypal Gift or Friends and Family payment is not allowed in the "Classifieds" per the forum rules. The reasoning is that it provides zero protections or recourse for buyers or sellers...it's just like an exchange of cash. What we've asked is that sellers add the 3% fees to the listing price or let buyers know they're responsible for fees...but please DO NOT mention Friends & Family, F&F or Gift Payments in the listing. If you're buddies with a buyer and they choose to pay you via one of those methods that's their call and fine obviously. We just can't suggest it in the listings.

Appreciate the understanding.

Brian

From the Forum Rules Sticky:

PayPal Payment Policy

Folks, it's come to our attention that there is a growing trend towards the misuse of PayPal's "gift" or "Friends and Family" payment methods on various online forums. Using this method as a way around the PayPal user fee is not something we will support at Speypages. This also removes the right of the buyer to have protective insurance on the item/s being shipped to them. If the seller does not wish to pay the 3% fee, then the option should be given to the buyer to pay for those fees, or simply include the fees in the asking price.
Do not post this info in your classified ads--if you do we will delete the ad.

Canadian buyers of US "stuff" and I'm sure visa versa do not have the options of FF or gift. Paypal does not allow it cross border. A better Canadian to Canadian option is an EMT. Dollar exchanges, paypal and shipping make it tough for Canadian buyers.
