Fell in love with these featherwinged flies on my trip to PNW. Next trip will hopefully be better timed for steelhead. Anyway it was great to meet some guys from this forum too at ASFI.

Wow, super classy take. love how all the heron fibres meet at the same place. Orange Heron on a Blue Heron hook? thanks for sharing

Beautiful fly. Pardon my ignorance but what are the materials for the hackle and the wing?

But to give you a short reply the wing is just regular hackle feathers from a chinese cock neck (from the sides so they curve). The hackle is heron but you can use Blue Eared Pheasant or bleached Goose or similar "spey hackle" for the same effect.
