Back in the old days when rod had proper names and not only numbers T&T produced two 14' rods, the "Gaula" and the "Spey". I have been looking for the Gaula model for quite some time (ebay, used dealers) without any success. Have any of you seen or tried any of these rods? Any tips on who to contact to find more information or even better a rod for sale?

T & T Gaula

I have one of these rods, and actually I had written to Tom Dorsey at T & T to get some information. He was kind enough to email me back. He said he had developed this rod specifically for fishing big pools on the Gaula. He used the rod primarily for overhead casting to reach way out there. As I remember, he said he used a DT 10 or 11 with about 30' cut off, and then a running line spiced to the remainder, i.e. sort of a triangle taper shooting head arrangement. It's a nice rod, with the early T & T reel hardware. If you PM with you email, I'll try to dig up his email and send you a copy. Keith
