I am a user of Nextcast Lines for use with sink tips, they have an excellent taper. I mainly use the Winter Authority 55 and 70 series. I have however noticed failures on the loops when using sink tips, has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi BNF861

Let me clarify, this is a complete crack behind the welded portion of the loop on the body of the line, the core is completely exposed. I have seen this on 3 of my lines all purchased at different times.

I wouldn't consider this a quality issue since I've seen this on any number of fly lines before. Not so often in PU lines, but most of my lines have cracked at the loop as you describe at one point or another, and it is fairly easy to fix or replace the loop. Not with my FFs or WAs as of now...

All PVC lines will crack at this point. ALL OF THEM. Good old, nasty, rotten and ugly 50# braided mono loops solve the problem. At least slow it down big time. Don't coat them with anything, stiffening is what causes the lines to bend repeatedly in the same spot...which is why welded loops always crack in the same spot. If you are worried about the welded loops breaking where the core is exposed...cut them off and go braided. Or fish them. All of mine are cracked and one of these years I will get around to cutting them off and replacing them with non coated braided. Maybe.
