Don't know about Split Frame, but

at 400 Pounds or $630, the spey version seems to fit nicely into the mix of higher end reels. Looks nice, too. I would love to see a reel to reel comparison between the Duchess Spey and the Marquis #2 and/or #3. Would like an independent assessment of the Brit-made versus the Korean-made reels.

I have had my eye on this reel since I first saw it.
I recently acquired a new English made Bougle and love absolutely love it.
I was also thinking of selling my Speyco 3 3/4 and getting a Marquis #2 to compliment it
That reel would be primarily for my switch rod and my short 6wt spey but would see occasional use on my 13ft Hardy which is why I am not thinking of the #1. I like the Duchess because it comes in a little lighter and may be better suited for the shorter rods but at $630 is a lot pricier than the Marquis.

BTW are these even going to be available here in the States?

Only on the GB site

The Duchess is a series in 4 reel sizes - 3 trout and 1 spey/salmon size. Hardy is calling the Duchess one of its "Heritage" reels (along with the St. George Trout and St. George Hot Spur Salmon, Wide Spool Perfect and Bougle).

It has a four pillar frame and two single screw lifeguards. The spool spool appears to have an exposed rim (think the Hardy Marquis). There's a classic Hardy 3 screw latch cover and finger lever spool release. From the looks of the photo of the back plate, the check mechanism looks like the Marquis' also (no photo of the check plate shown). There's a classic Hardy rim mounted regulator screw. Sizes are 2-3/4" - 3 wt., 3" - 5 wt., 3-1/4" - 6 wt. and 4" - 11 wt. No widths given for any of the sizes.

In the 3 small sizes, it looks to cover the old Trout Marquis reels. It always seemed odd to me that when Hardy reintroduced the Marquis, it was only in the Salmon sizes.

Its a good looking reel and I hope they make it available from US dealers.
