Omg your kidding right?What phone you using,I just woke to this on my iPhone ,totally not user friendly PITA! How do change it back on a iPhone ?
No I'm not kidding . I use a Samsung S4 and this new format smokes the original .

Don't see anything wrong with the mobile format. It will just take people time to get used to it. Obviously, the bigger the mobile screen, the nicer this will be, so I wouldn't confuse a small screen issue with the format. A PC format will always be an issue on a mobile device, so this is a net gain.
I had to rebuild my site so that it works on mobile devices. Do I prefer the mobile layout to the PC one, no of course not. The PC format is easier to use on a PC, but not on a mobile device. The mobile format wins there, but at home I don't sit and browse using my phone.
The big gain is in loading speed and readability when a site has a responsive layout. Just spend some time with it.

." Just came into the house and if I had found out that the new format was on my pc I was ready to write off the whole site. To the powers that be I will no longer be accessing the site on my phone (which is 50% of the time). Never had an issue on my phone until now!!! Always some a$$h0/e who thinks he can do it better.

It takes about 2 seconds to figure out. I'm confident that anyone who knows how to use a toaster or turn a doorknob should be able to figure it out. Then again maybe I shouldn't be.
